First Impressions
Le Bijou kicks off with bold character. From the first draw, there’s an unmistakable peppery spice — classic Nicaraguan black pepper that wakes up your senses. It’s rich, unapologetic, and sets the tone for a full-flavored journey. Not for the faint of heart.
Flavor Evolution
As you ease into the first third, the pepper rounds off, making way for warm baking spices like nutmeg and a touch of clove. Midway through, there’s a creamy texture that brings out notes of cocoa, espresso, and just a hint of molasses. The final third leans more savory — earthy, leathery, and just a bit of charred woodiness. It’s a deeply layered experience that keeps you engaged from start to finish.
Be patient with this cigar, it starts strong and mellows as you smoke through this masterpiece.
Construction & Burn
Typical of My Father Cigars, construction is excellent. The draw has just enough resistance to feel substantial. The burn is clean, and the ash holds solid. However, the box-pressed torpedo burned a bit diagonal on what seemed a not-so windy day. The box-pressed vitolas in particular usually offer a cool, consistent burn that really lets the flavors shine. I was a bit surprised. I did not need to correct this one at all, but a straighter burn down to the nub would've been more pleasant.
Final Thoughts
Le Bijou 1922 isn’t just a great cigar — it’s a tribute. Created by Don Pepín García as an homage to his father, this blend is as personal as it is powerful. It’s not a light smoke, nor is it meant to be. It’s bold, refined, and confidently complex — the kind of cigar you light when you want to slow down and savor something truly special. Do not forget to admire the artwork on the label as you puff away. God, I love the My Father Labels.
