Oliva Saison 2011 Maduro Cigar Review: Bold, Vintage, and Well-Rounded

The Oliva Saison 2011 Maduro is a sleeper hit for fans of rich, aged Nicaraguan tobacco. Built from a single 2011 harvest, this cigar delivers depth and smooth power, all wrapped in a dark, oily maduro leaf.

I will never forget when my good friend who is a bit uppity about only smoking Cuban cigars made the statement that the aroma of this cigar made his "mouth water". I quote.

Once you light it up, you'll notice the scent is so incredibly unique. As he said, mouth watering

First impressions? Solid construction with a beautiful roundness. The draw is smooth, and the burn line stays sharp with minimal touch-ups.

Flavor-wise, this stick doesn’t waste time. It opens with bold notes of espresso, dark chocolate, and black pepper. As it develops, you’ll pick up layers of leather, molasses, and a dried fruit sweetness. The final third shifts into earth, toasted oak, and a lingering spice that never overpowers.

Such a nice cigar. And unlike all the big label Oliva cigars, this one is a bit tough to find.

Strength: Medium to full-bodied

Burn time: Around 90 minutes

Best for: Evenings, after dinner, or paired with bourbon or coffee

Daytime, on the golf course in a toro or churchill size

Final Thoughts: The Saison 2011 Maduro is a flavorful, slow-burning cigar with depth and character. It’s not flashy—but it’s reliable, satisfying, and perfect for those who appreciate aged tobacco and a rich finish.

Rating: 90/100
